Ngarda Civil & Mining today announced the appointment of Darren Lundberg as the new General Manager of its operations.
Company Chair, Ian Myers, welcomed the appointment saying that Mr Lundberg would be driving a new strategic direction for the company as it positions itself for future expansion and diversification in the mining and civil construction industries.
Mr Lundberg replaces Brian Hughey who was Ngarda’s inaugural General Manager since 2000. Mr Hughey has been taken up a position with Ngarda’s commercial partner, Leighton Contractors, a position that takes him to the Northern Territory.
On behalf of the Board, Mr Myers thanked Mr Hughey for the valuable contribution he has made in leading Ngarda’s growth over the past 9 years.
Mr Lundberg is an engineer who joined Ngarda in 2007 as Operations Manager and was appointed Deputy General Manager in May 2008.
Mr Myers said that Mr Lundberg’s appointment as the first Indigenous General Manager for the company was in line with Ngarda’s succession planning and would bring a fresh dimension to the company’s operations.
“Darren brings to the role a great understanding of the complexities and challenges that the mining and civil construction industries face, especially in response to the recent and ongoing global credit crisis,” Mr Myers said. “He is well-positioned to lead Ngarda into future expansion and specialisation within both industries under our company’s new strategic direction.”
Mr Lundberg’s appointment is effective from 31 October 2009.
