Training Opportunities
Ngarda’s National Mining Academy (NNMA) Ngarda is in the process of establishing a National Mining Academy in the Pilbara and expects it to be operating in early 2007. The NNMA will provide 16 weeks of learning for those who have no previous experience in the mining industry. The first 8 weeks will provide participants with a good understanding of mine safety, mining legal requirements, the environment, first aid and processes and documents that form an important part of the mining life. Following this period, participants will then begin to operate mining equipment in an environment that is suitable for learning. You may commence operating a Water cart as you become comfortable with the size of the equipment and the requirements to operate them safely. This part of the program will last 4 weeks. The final 4 weeks of your training will be in a fully operational mining environment. This will mean that you will attend pre-start briefings, operate the equipment operationally, have breaks with the rest of the crew and meet certain targets.
