Ngarda

About Us

From its inception, Ngarda has been underpinned by its Directors’ commitment to providing employment and training opportunities to Indigenous people.

Ngarda is a unique organisation that aims to achieve a target of 85% Indigenous employment in its workforce with an absolute minimum of 50%.  It also seeks to engage Indigenous people in the communities located around the company’s project areas, giving them first options for employment before considering other candidates.

Ngarda commenced operations in April 2001 as a fledgling company employing half a dozen people on gardening and maintenance duties.  With significant support from BHP Billiton Iron Ore and Rio Tinto, Ngarda has now grown to employing just over 200 people of which 160 are Indigenous.  The company’s client list includes BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Boodarie Iron, Pilbara Iron, Woodside, Newcrest, Aditja Birla and Woodside and last financial year turned over just under $50 million.

With offices located in Wedgefield and Perth, Ngarda provides a range of services including drill and blast, load and haul, screening, material storage and handling and ship loading.  The company holds a restricted stevedoring license for operating on the Port Hedland wharf.
